Travel & Tourism is currently the second largest industry in Blair County and the Southern Allegheny Mountains/Central Pennsylvania Region. The Allegheny Mountains Convention & Visitors Bureau (AMCVB) is very proud to be the official organization designated by the County of Blair and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to represent this vital and growing industry.
The AMCVB is a non-profit corporation comprised of more than 400 members representing the breadth of amenities, services, products and attractions that exist in our region. Among our members are advertising/media, architects & engineers, associations, attractions, bed & breakfasts, campgrounds, churches, convention & meeting facilities, dining venues, dry cleaners, education, employment, entertainment, financial, friends, health & human services, industry, insurance, legal & accounting, lodging, printing, real estate, recreation & sports, security, services, shopping, special events, transportation/travel agencies, utilities and more. The AMCVB is a leader in the field of Tourist Promotion Agencies and enjoys a strong partnership with area economic development agencies, such as Altoona Blair County Development Corporation and the Blair County Chamber of Commerce. Like any association, the AMCVB exists because of the investment of our members and their participation in Convention & Visitors Bureau programs. The Travel & Tourism Industry in Blair County represents thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in revenue. The continued success of the industry and further economic development is dependent upon the cooperative efforts of our entire membership. Visitors are coming to Blair County and The Alleghenies for leisure, business, special events and as part of motorcoach, convention & meeting and trade show groups. These major markets are important to our members and the region. The membership of the AMCVB sets the goals and the direction of this organization to further the development and the impact of the Travel and Tourism Industry in Blair County and The Alleghenies region. Regional promotion and cooperation are encouraged and supported by the AMCVB to provide our membership additional exposure on regional, state, national and international levels. While the AMCVB and our members are working aggressively to attract visitors and groups to the Heart of the Southern Allegheny Mountains, we are always focused on ways to further promote our members to one another through qualified regional marketing promotions. The Allegheny Mountains Convention & Visitors Bureau will provide leadership, hospitality, marketing, education and membership services to the region. We will serve our community, the travel and tourism industry, and the meeting and convention marketplace by creating a positive visitor experience. We will create broad-based partnerships within the region that foster economic development and enhance the quality of life.
